Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to prepare for the treatment?
The therapist will provide everything required for a relaxing and enjoyable treatment, including a massage chair, relaxing music, massage oils, towels and a pillow. You will be asked to place a towel around your torso to allow access to your head, upper back and arms, so please bear this in mind when dressing.
How long is the treatment?
The treatment lasts approximately 30 minutes. Including the initial consultation, the appointment will last approximately 45 minutes in total.
Where can my massage be done?
You can have your massage wherever is convenient for you, as your therapist is completely mobile. You can have it done anywhere in your own home, or even at your workplace. I also have a centrally based treatment room you can visit if you prefer.
How much will it cost?
The treatment, including the consultation, will cost £20.
How and when do I pay for my treatment?
You can either pay using PayPal at the time of booking, or you can pay by cash at the time of your treatment.
Will you use oils on my scalp?
Only if you wish. It is not necessary for the treatment and will leave a residue in your hair. If oils are used, it is recommended that you apply your usual shampoo to dry hair before washing normally in order to remove the oils.
Will the treatment be painful?
No. Your massage will be gentle and enjoyable, helping you to relax. Although some of your muscles will be worked quite deeply, your therapist will not be causing you any discomfort.
Can I have treatment when I am pregnant?
It is not advised within the first 12 weeks, but after this time Indian Head Massage can be very beneficial during pregnancy. Please advise the therapist at the time of booking.
When should I avoid having treatment?
You should avoid Indian Head Massage if:
- You have recently had surgery
- You have suffered a recent head, neck or back injury
- You have a history of thrombosis, embolism, spondylitis or spondylosis
- You are in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy
- You have a migraine or raised temperature
- You have a skin or scalp infection
If you have any kind of heart condition, cancer or osteoporosis, please consult your doctor before booking treatment. Please always avoid alcohol before your treatment.
Are there any side effects?
It is normal for some clients to feel a little sleepy or light-headed immediately after the treatment. You may also experience some slight aching in muscles which have been deeply worked on by the therapist, but these effects will not usually last for longer than a few hours. Clients then generally feel increased energy and alertness.
Do you offer any other treatments or specially tailored packages?

Do you travel to other areas outside East Sussex?
